REPORT ON 

 WORLD OZONE DAY 

 THEME: "MONTREAL PROTOCOL ADVANCING CLIMATE ACTION"

 PM SHRI Govt. Sr. Sec. School Samdong celebrated World Ozone Day on 16th September 2024 with a series of activities aimed at raising awareness about the importance of the ozone layer and climate action. The event aligned with the global theme “Montreal Protocol Advancing Climate Action,” reflecting the role of the Montreal Protocol in protecting the ozone layer while also addressing climate change.

 Activities Conducted:

 1. Poster Making and Essay Writing Competitions: 

Students from various grades actively participated in a poster-making competition, showcasing creative ideas and messages related to ozone protection and climate action. Alongside this, an essay writing competition allowed students to express their views on the significance of the Montreal Protocol and the harmful effects of UV rays on the environment and human health.


2. Awareness Program on UV Rays: 

 A special awareness session was organized to educate students about the harmful effects of UV radiation. Teachers discussed the dangers of prolonged exposure to UV rays, their link to skin cancer, and the depletion of the ozone layer. This session highlighted the importance of safeguarding the ozone layer for the health and safety of all living beings. 


3. Planting of Saplings: 

As part of the school’s green initiative, students and staff planted saplings within the school premises to promote environmental sustainability. This activity was aligned with the broader mission of climate action, symbolizing the need for reforestation and reducing greenhouse gases.



4. Incorporating Themes from Mission Life:

 In conjunction with Mission Life’s objectives, themes such as sustainable living, reducing carbon footprints, and promoting eco-friendly practices were integrated into the day's events. The focus was on encouraging students to adopt lifestyles that contribute to the protection of the planet and support ongoing climate action efforts.


Conclusion:

 The observance of World Ozone Day at PM SHRI Govt. Sr. Sec. School Samdong was a success, with students and staff gaining valuable insights into the importance of the ozone layer and climate action. The activities conducted helped to reinforce the school’s commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability.
